long time no post

July 30th, 2012

well wow been a while since i have posted anything here have done quite a bit but most recently i built a couple of websites for sound collider a local aberdeen band with friends in it.

the first site that was built was a flash site which although not the main site any more can still be viewed here http://soundcollider.com/flash/

we all know the limits of a flash site in this day and age what with more and more people using mobile devices like smartphones and tablets as there main source of internet usage, sadly though many of these devices dont run flash and out of the ones that can run it like android devices many just dont do it well, there is also the fact that adobe the creators of flash no longer support or create new versions of mobile flash.

so on to the html version which can be viewed at http://soundcollider.com/ the flash site was using wordpress for updating the news and gigs so it made sense to use the wordpress installation for html and create a theme for the website nothing crazy or over the top just simple and clean and having the availability of many many wordpress pugins saved many man hours not having to code things that had already been coded a million times.

obviously the main benefits to the html site over the flash site for visitors is much faster load times, quicker to navigate, will work on all devices, fans can leave comments and like posts and see news posted on the website, facebook and twitter at a glance on the home page making it easier to follow and interact with the band.

anyhoo to make a long story short… sound collider rock 🙂
